DJ AM Documentary Screening in Select Theaters
As I Am: the Life and Times of DJ AM is screening at select theaters across the country this summer. The documentary debuted last year to critical acclaim.
Music lovers and recovering addicts had a date night this summer as the DJ AM documentary showed at movie theaters across the country. Some of the cities visited were Austin, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Miami and San Diego. The film opened in New York City on May 27 at Village East, and in Los Angeles on June 3 at ArcLight Hollywood. If you missed it or do not live anywhere near there, you may request a screening online at the official website. Or watch the movie at home using Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, PlayStation Vimeo, Vudu or Xbox.
The documentary was directed by Kevin Kerslake, who has also made bios on the Ramones and Nirvana, as well as THE ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL EXPERIENCE. It drew praise from many critics including Billboard, the New York Post, Rolling Stone and Variety. As I Am: the Life and Times of DJ AM has a rating of five stars on the film website Rotten Tomatoes. It features commentary from music industry experts such as A-Trak, Diplo, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jon Favreau, Marc Ronson, Mix Master Mike, Paul Oakenfold, Steve Aoki, Vice and Z-Trip. Plus footage from the DJ’s drug fueled adventures with celebrities such as Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore and Travis Barker.
If you are too young to remember DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) and his meteoric rise to the top, the producer is often hailed as the world’s first superstar DJ. In 2009 he died tragically of a drug overdose at age 36.
