DJ Jazzy Jeff Opening for Lady Gaga at Democratic Convention

DJ Jazzy Jeff is scheduled to open for Lenny Kravitz and Lady Gaga at the Democratic National Convention. Snoop Dogg and Los Lobos will play another show.

Lady Gaga, Lenny Kravitz and DJ Jazzy Jeff will perform at the at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey on July 28 at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The event is happening July 25 to July 28, and is technically in Philadelphia, although Camden is right across state lines on the Delaware River. That same day, Snoop Dogg and Los Lobos will appear at the Electric Factory for the ‘Unity Party.’

All five artists are clearly supporters of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign for president of the US. Clinton herself is expected to accept the democratic nomination for presidential candidacy just hours after the concert. It is not clear if she had a hand in selecting the performers, although Lady Gaga has been an avid supporter from the start.

You may remember DJ Jazzy Jeff from his work with Will Smith and the Fresh Prince. He is still going strong, touring the world and he performed at Electric Forest last June of all places. The latest episode of his podcast series, Summertime 7 was recently featured by Vibe Magazine, and is the number one hip hop tape on Mixcloud.

Hopefully Kravitz plans to perform his cover version of ‘American Woman’ by the Guess Who because that would be an appropriate song choice. With that in mind here is a GIF of Lady Gaga and Beyonce dancing in American flag costumes in the video for ‘Telephone.’

Meanwhile the Republican Convention 2016 did not have any pop stars or famous DJ’s. Although Queen did ask them to please stop playing their music.
