DJs Can Start Earning Money Off SoundCloud Mixes in New Revenue-Sharing Update
SoundCloud just announced a major update today directly affecting the DJ/producer community. In an exclusive announcement through Thump, SoundCloud revealed
“they will be expanding their invite-only revenue-sharing program to include artists who create ‘recorded and live sets, remixes, and other user-generated content’.”
Chief Content Officer Stephen Bryan stated this would be the first time SoundCloud would include DJs and producers who create mixes to be able to monetize on them and participate in their revenue-sharing program.
This is major news for DJs whose mixes have been easy targets for takedowns in the past, especially on SoundCloud. But now SoundCloud is geared towards bouncing back and re-instilling the trust of the DJ community.
Since this is still invite-only, it looks that there’s still some time before this is open to the public. However, you do have the option to register your interest on the SoundCloud website. Learn more about their Premier program.
