Jay-Z Drops Footnotes and Music Video for Platinum ‘4:44’ Album
Jay-Z’s newest album, 4:44, hit platinum status in a wildly fast time period – 6 days to be exact. Released exclusively on TIDAL and Sprint, 4:44 was the rapper’s 13th platinum album, which is more than more than any other hip-hop artist in the history of RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program. Certified Platinum by RIAA recognizes 1 million albums sold and/or streamed in the United States.
Adding more hype to the mix is Jay-Z’s newly released addendum to album, a short documentary film titled “Footnotes for 4:44.” In the 11-minute video, Jay gets (even more) personal and honest about his marriage to Beyoncé. It also features interviews with some of Hollywood and the music industry’s elite, including Kendrick Lamar, Will Smith, Chris Rock and Spike Lee, reports Rolling Stone.
It seems Jay is sharing his masterpiece with us in slices, having just released a music video for 4:44 last Friday. The visuals are an assortment of clips pieced together to make a full 8-minute video. Highlighting moments with his 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, as well as on-stage appearances with Beyoncé and a recording of the late Eartha Kitt talking about love and compromise, Jay is clearly expressing that family is his first priority nowadays.
The 4:44 full album, music video and “Footnotes” are all available to stream on TIDAL. The album has also been made available on streaming platforms including Apple Music and Amazon Music. If a tangible form of music is more your style, you can scoop up a physical copy of 4:44 that has three bonus tracks, including an adorable freestyle by Blue Ivy.
We love everything Jay has been up to lately – including a recently announced tour beginning in October and concluding in December. Tickets go on sale July 14 – check out the cities that the tour is making stops at here.
