Software Spotlight: Mixed In Key 8 and Studio Edition

Since 2006, Mixed In Key‘s award-winning key detection software has been helping DJs and producers improve harmonic mixing in their DJ sets, mashups, and remixes. Over the years, the developers behind the software have consistently added more outstanding products, including music composition tools Odesi and Captain Plugins.

But perhaps their biggest VST/AU plugin arrived this year, much to the delight of music producers everywhere. Released in April, Mixed In Key Studio Edition is a plugin that enables users to detect the key of any sound or sample in real-time within their DAW. The plugin helps producers speed up their workflow and fine-tune their sound.

On this episode of Software Spotlight, BPM Supreme’s sound design expert, Mike Acosta provides an overview of Mixed In Key version 8.5, illustrating how it works, plus then analyzes Studio Edition with a thorough breakdown of its features.

  1. I originally started Dj’ing in Traktor but bought a DJM S9 so will start using Serato… Im thinking of buying Mixed in Key to set cue points in both software without having to do twice the work.
