Technics Releases the SL-1200GR Turntable for $2000/table
Technics recently launched a newer version of the SL-1200G, a lower-end model imaginatively named the SL-1200GR.
If you followed the recent news that Technics has essentially turned its back on DJs, the release of the ‘lower-end’ SL-1200GR turntable pretty much confirms this. The price tag of $2000 per table also seems out of reach by the majority of DJs.
So what’s new with the release of SL-1200GR?
There are still many similarities between the 1200GR and the higher-end model, however the major differences are that the platter is lighter, the die-cast platter is aluminum, and the torque has a lower starting torque.
What hasn’t changed?
The dimensions are exactly the same, it still has the coreless direct-drive motor, high-rigidity platter, and sensitive tonearm.
